Terms of Use

Your Ethiopian Professionals (YEP) Network · Last updated: August 2026

These terms apply to yepnetwork.org, community.yepnetwork.org, and the YEP member community, job board, events, newsletters and career tools reached through them (together, the “Services”). By using the Services you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

YEP is a nonprofit. The Services exist to support the professional development of the Ethiopian and Ethiopian-American diaspora community.

1. Who may join

You may create an account on your own if you are 18 or older.

If you are 13 to 17, you may join only with the approval of a parent or legal guardian. During signup you must confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and approved the registration, and that person agrees to these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Services. We may ask for confirmation of that approval, and may close the account if it turns out not to have been given.

Members under 18 are not listed in the member directory and cannot be found there by other members. They keep their account and can use the job board, events, newsletters and career tools.

The Services are not for anyone under 13. Do not create an account, and do not give us any information about yourself, if you are under 13. If we learn that we hold an account for someone under 13 we will delete it.

One account per person. The information you give us — your name, email, and anything on your profile — must be accurate and about you. Do not create an account for someone else, or present yourself as a person or organisation you are not.

Membership is free. New accounts are reviewed before they appear in the member directory, and YEP decides who is approved.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Tell us at info@yepnetwork.org if you believe someone else is using it.

You can close your account at any time. When you do, we remove your profile from the directory and delete your member record. See the Privacy Policy for what is kept and for how long.

3. What you post

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting to the Services you give YEP a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute that content within the Services, for as long as you keep it posted, so that we can show it to other members. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already made by other members or held in routine backups.

Only post content you have the right to post. Do not post anything that:

Recommendations and endorsements are written about real, identifiable people. Write only what you can stand behind from your own experience.

4. What you may not do with the Services

5. Jobs, events and third parties

The job board carries roles posted by employers and listings drawn from public sources including USAJobs and Adzuna. YEP does not vet, endorse or guarantee any employer, posting, salary, or hiring outcome, and is not a party to your application, interview or employment. Verify anything before acting on it, and never send money or sensitive personal documents to an employer you have not independently checked.

The same applies to events, sponsors, partners and any organisation mentioned on the Services. Links to other websites are for convenience; YEP does not control them and is not responsible for their content or practices.

Parts of the Services are provided by third parties under their own terms, including Supabase (accounts and data), Stripe (payments), Resend (email) and Google (analytics, when you have accepted analytics cookies).

6. Career tools and AI-assisted features

Some features use AI to help draft or review documents such as résumés and cover letters. Their output may be inaccurate or incomplete, and is not professional advice — not legal, immigration, tax, financial or medical advice. Read anything they produce before relying on it or sending it to anyone. YEP’s tools decline immigration, legal and tax questions and point you to qualified help instead.

7. Payments and donations

Payments for tickets or other items are processed by third-party payment providers; YEP does not store your card details. Donations to YEP are tax deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law — YEP is a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 46-2681571. Ticket purchases are generally not refundable unless the event is cancelled, in which case we will say how refunds are handled.

8. Moderation, suspension and removal

YEP may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts members at risk. Where it is practical and appropriate we will tell you why, and you may write to info@yepnetwork.org to ask us to reconsider. Serious cases — threats, harassment, fraud, or attempts to compromise the Services — may be actioned immediately and without notice.

9. Communications

Members receive email necessary to run the account: approval, security, and replies to things you send us. Newsletters and announcements are separate — you can unsubscribe from those at any time using the link in the email, without affecting your membership. If you opt in to SMS, message and data rates may apply, and you can stop them by replying STOP.

10. YEP’s content

The YEP name, logo, and the design and content of the Services (other than member content) belong to YEP or its licensors. You may not use them to imply endorsement or affiliation without written permission.

11. Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, YEP disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. YEP does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any content — including content posted by other members — is accurate.

YEP does not guarantee employment, interviews, introductions, or any professional outcome.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, YEP and its directors, officers, employees and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, opportunities or goodwill, arising out of your use of the Services.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, YEP’s total liability arising out of or relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid YEP in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless YEP and the people listed above from claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising out of content you post, your use of the Services, or your breach of these terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the District of Columbia, and you and YEP consent to their jurisdiction.

Before filing anything, please email info@yepnetwork.org — most things are resolved that way.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will post a notice on the Services or email members before it takes effect, and update the date above. Continuing to use the Services after that means you accept the new terms.

16. Other

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing something is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and YEP about the Services.
